Property Description
The Bastide du Bandol is tucked away in the magnificent Provençal village of La Cadière d'Azur, in the heart of the Bandol vineyards. La Cadière d'Azur is a charming ancient Provençal hilltop village, where love of traditions, good living and fine foods and wines has been perpetrated for many centuries. The Bastide du Bandol is not a "house" but a cluster of houses tucked away in the village. The ancient monks' cells in the monastery have been lovingly transformed into bright, comfortable and delightfully-decorated rooms. The walled garden has grown into a Provençal country house or "Bastide", with heated pool set among the olive trees, sauna and gym. The third house is dedicated to eating, reception and relaxation, with a breathtaking view from the restaurant over the Bandol vineyards and countryside. The fourth house is the "Maison des Peintres" or "House of Artists". The rooms bear the name of famous visitors to La Cadière d'Azur. Born in La Cadière d'Azur, Chef Renè Bèrard's cuisine reflects to perfection the seasons of Provence with superb and richly innovative cuisine based on the traditional flavors and fragrances of Provence and the Mediterranean and assembled from the finest local products. The "cuisine of the sun" is Renè's passion and a formidable way of sharing his love of the Provençal terroir and traditions with his guests. Perhaps you will choose to share some of his cordon bleu secrets with him...

Passport to Provence is a Four day Course on “Art de Vivre”- The art of fine cuisine and good living in the South of France. Renè Bèrard and his son Jean-Francois Bèrard are the instructor’s. - arrival Sunday evening - - departure Friday morning - Available all year round on request (except July and August) for 12 persons maximum.
This "Passport to Provence" culinary program offers an exceptional introduction to Renè Bèrard's Provençal terroir and its fabulous flavors and fragrances. * 4 days of introduction to Provençal Cuisine (practical course). * Visits to the local market. * Hands-on lessons in "La Bastide des Saveurs". * Appreciation of flavors and fragrances. * Visit to an oil-mill, vineyards, herb-picking in the hills. * Lunches (prepared during lessons) with accent on marrying wines and foods.
