Property Description
This magnificent castle, dates back to the Middle Ages of 1200 AD in which it was the focus of defence of the town of Gubbio against Perugia. Inaugurated in 2009 after four years of meticulous renovation, Castello Ducale is immersed in an untouched village, surrounded by forests, meadows and the waters of the river Chiascio.
The castle is part of an estate of 500 hectares, where between the forests and fields there are various paths for horse riding and itineraries for amazing walks. A beautiful garden of 5.000 sqm surrounds the castle, with its rose garden, century old trees and a large swimming pool.
The owners of the estate descend from the family of Napoleon Bonaparte and they have elegantly furnished the living areas and bedrooms in an Empire style, with the family’s antique furniture.
In the watching tower, bedrooms have been constructed, two of them so large that they fill up the entire perimeter of the tower.
The kitchen, for use of the clients and the staff, is of an industrial type and fully made of steel, functional and usable for wedding ceremonies and big parties. It has a direct entrance to the inner court yard of the castle and has an entrance to the outdoor area.
The forestry does not only have a direct and independent entrance to the castle, through an antique secret passage, it is also perfectly built for people with a handicap.
Together with the forestry, Castello Ducale accommodates up to 30 people and in the price is daily maid service, daily preparation of the breakfast and dinner (both with the exception of Sundays) included. On request it is also possible to have a cook, to have dinner in the magnificent setting of the court yard of the castle, enclosed by enchanting walls, or outside the castle in the terrace area in front of the park, close to the kitchen.
The geographical position of the castle, gives the possibility to have morning and afternoon excursions to Gubbio, Perugia, Assisi and Cortona. In addition to this, daytrips to Siena, Florence, Montepulciano and Orvieto can be easily organised.
Staying at Castello Ducale also means having a wonderful holiday in a place of your dreams, where you recall the feeling of being a ‘lady of court’ in a natural and historical setting where the 21st century is easily forgotten!
